Funk and Soul for the Festive Season
Not your typical holiday shindig. Aka, 2016's Bermuda Parlor Party.
'Tis December, which means 'tis the season for a slew of holiday parties with sleigh bells ringing and Santa Babies singing. But all that Mariah Carey leaves a girl wanting to disrupt the status quo, you know? When I attend a seasonal shindig, I appreciate the host's personal and particular touch. And when I host a seasonal shindig, I like to set the stage for relaxed, fun, and just a tad ear-perking vibes. Think: bossanova. Funk. Soul. Jazz.
The music, should, for the most part, fade into the background, but I also like to get a bit of a mood going, which is why you’ll see some slightly suggestive picks on this list (insert winky face here). Music is a catalyst for conversation, and what's better than providing petite moments of connection between two people who have just discovered they both love D'Angelo? Nothing.
